WHEN THE WALLS TALK. A show by Laura Clos “Closca” and Núria Vila

Laura Clos “Closca” and Núria Vila are two young performing arts professionals trained at the Institut del Teatre (Barcelona). Closca is a scenographer and lighting designer and Núria is a scenographer and architect. Their professional practice has established them as performers with an active voice committed to their social environment.

Together they have created a show that takes as a visual and dramaturgic starting point graffiti understood as traces of different kinds of social concerns. In their areas of activity they first carry out fieldwork exploring the city and photographing it, and based on this material they present When the Walls Talk.

Their project is closely linked to the approaches of the curators and artistic objectives of the PQ19_Catalonia, although their participation in PQ Studio is their own initiative. The artistic direction of the PQ19 has selected their show for the Quadrennial and we want to give them a voice and mark their participation in the event.

Like an actress, the city is waiting for her cue to take the stage while she goes through her text over and over again, while no one is listening. Only if we are able to look up from our mobiles and take off our headphones will we become her audience, the city’s audience. A city we have always conceived as our stage and now, for the first time, it becomes a character itself, and tries to talk to us.

Through a visual and aural snapshot we will allow the walls, the paintings and the noises to tell us a story. One of many, but oh so real...

Idea: Laura Clos (Closca) and Núria Vila (Lacol)
Creation: Marc Chornet, Laura Clos (Closca) and Lacol
Orchestration and set design: Laura Clos (Closca) and Núria Vila (Lacol)
Direction: Marc Chornet Artells

Coproduction of the Festival TNT 2017 and Lacol SCCL
